These 'utilities' (as they are often known) responsible for water, sewerage, electricity, highways, flood defences, gas, telephones / broadband, railways, airport and ferry facilities, from time to time (but more often than you might realise), have a requirement to carry out work on privately owned and / or occupied land. In the vast majority of cases, they are legally bound to pay compensation for damage, losses and inconvenience, including the claimant's professional costs incurred. Importantly, this includes any ongoing maintenance or remedial work to existing installations.
